What others Have asked us…

The IB is a non-profit international educational organization established in 1968. It offers 3 programmes of international education that span the primary, middle and secondary school years: Primary Years Programme (PYP) - designed for students aged through 3 to 11, Middle Years Programme (MYP) - for students aged through 11 to 16 and Diploma Programme (DP) - for students aged through 16 to 18. While these programmes follow a logical sequence, each may be offered independently. In all 3 programmes, the IB offers schools with school authorization, curriculum material, assessment procedures, faculty-training workshops, programme evaluation and comprehensive support services in English, French and Spanish.

We have students who come from different curriculums, both national and international. Therefore assessments are largely skill-based and test for ability levels expected in the grade that the student is applying for. No special preparation, beyond a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast, is required or suggested for the admissions assessments.

  1. Language Offerings at HUS
  2. At HUS, we provide a structured language acquisition program aligned with IB guidelines, ensuring a strong foundation in multiple languages.
  3. Second Language Options: Spanish, French, and Hindi
  4. Third Language Option:Tamil
  5. Our language program is offered from Grade 1 to Grade 12 supporting progressive language development throughout a student’s academic journey.
  6. In Grades 1 to 3, students participate in a 14-week rotational programme experiencing French in the first cycle, Spanish in the second, and Hindi in the third. This exposure helps them make an informed decision for their second language choice from Grade 4 onwards.
  7. From Grade 4, students formally select a second language, which they can continue through the IB Diploma Programme. They also have the flexibility to change their second language selection at this stage.
  8. For the IB Diploma Programme (DP), we offer languages at different proficiency levels, including Standard Level (SL), Higher Level (HL), and Ab Initio (for beginners), ensuring that students of all backgrounds can develop language proficiency based on their individual learning pathways.
  9. This structured approach allows students to build strong linguistic skills while fostering global awareness and intercultural understanding, which are key components of the IB philosophy.

Students must be enrolled in an IB authorized school to participate in an IB programme. Although entry to the IB Diploma is open to all students entering grade 11, the advice is given by the coordinator and teachers as to which course and subject combination is most suitable for each student.

HUS teachers receive continuous training to deliver the evolving IB curriculum.
