IB MYP Explained: A Guide to the Middle Years Programme

1. Eight Subject Groups: The middle years programme curriculum consists of eight subject groups, namely, Language Acquisition, Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design. The IB MYP requires a minimum of 50 teaching hours per subject group per year in MYP 1–3, and a minimum of 70 hours in MYP 4–5.

6. Service as action: Service as Action is a core requirement of the IB MYP, encouraging students to apply their learning through meaningful service. It fosters empathy, personal growth, and responsible action, helping students engage with their communities as active, caring global citizens.
